Christmas Tree Recycling 2026: 500 Trees Collected and Nearly £6,000 Raised for Local Causes

Our Christmas tree recycling scheme has become a well-established part of the post-Christmas period in Christchurch, and this year saw record levels of support from the local community.

This year’s Christchurch Round Table’s Christmas Tree Recycling scheme was our most successful yet. Across our collection days, we collected around 500 real Christmas trees and raised nearly £6,000 to support local charities and good causes across Christchurch and the surrounding area.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who booked a collection, shared our posts, recommended us to neighbours, and helped make this year such a success.

A True Community Effort

Our Christmas tree recycling scheme is organised and run entirely by volunteers from Christchurch Round Table, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses and organisations who generously give their time, equipment and help.

A huge thank you goes to:

  • Land Mark & Sons, who donated their time and machinery to chip and recycle the trees once collected

  • Economy Hire, for kindly lending us vans to help our volunteers collect trees across the area

  • Macmillan Caring Locally, for their ongoing support and for helping share our posts and spread the word

Support like this makes a real difference and helps keep the scheme running smoothly, allowing more of the money raised to go directly back into the community.

Where the Money Goes

Every donation made through our Christmas tree recycling scheme helps Christchurch Round Table continue its charitable work throughout the year.

The funds raised are used to support:

  • Local charities

  • Community groups

  • Causes that make a positive difference to people in and around Christchurch

This Christmas, 50% of all the money we have raised will go directly to Macmillan Caring Locally, a specialist palliative care unit and hospice based at Christchurch Hospital, supporting patients and families across South East Dorset and South West Hampshire.

The remaining 50% will be distributed to local causes in Christchurch, helping support community groups, charities and initiatives that make a real difference locally.

Recycling Trees Responsibly

All trees collected through the scheme are recycled locally. Once collected, they are chipped into woodchip rather than going to landfill, helping reduce waste and ensuring the trees are put to good use.

It’s a simple, convenient way for residents to dispose of their real Christmas trees while also supporting local causes.

Thank You for Making It a Record Year

Collecting 500 trees and raising nearly £6,000 is an incredible achievement, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of the Christchurch community.

Whether you’ve booked with us for years or took part for the first time this January, thank you for supporting our Christmas tree recycling scheme and helping us make a real local impact.

Looking Ahead

We’re already reviewing this year’s collections and looking at how we can continue to improve the service for next year — from refining routes to reaching even more households.

Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for future updates, and thank you once again for backing Christchurch Round Table and everything we do.
