Burns Night at Christchurch Soho

Christchurch Round Table enjoyed a traditional Burns Night this January at Christchurch Soho, joining with 41 Club for one of the most established and popular events in the local Round Table calendar.

After a busy start to the year with our Christmas tree collection, it was a good opportunity to pause, catch up, and enjoy an evening rooted in tradition and good company.

A Proper Burns Night in Christchurch

The evening followed the traditional Burns Night format, organised by 41 Club, who once again put together an excellent event.

Highlights included:

  • The haggis being piped in by bagpipes

  • The Address to a Haggis, read in full

  • The ceremonial cutting of the haggis with a sword

  • A relaxed dinner and plenty of conversation throughout the night

Christchurch Soho provided a great venue for the occasion, and the atmosphere reflected why Burns Night remains a firm favourite year after year.

Round Table and 41 Club Together

Events like Burns Night are a good example of how Round Table and 41 Club work together locally. While 41 Club lead on organising the evening, it’s always well supported by current Tablers and remains an important date in the calendar for both groups.

We were also pleased to welcome the National President, making the night particularly memorable and reinforcing the wider connections within Round Table nationally.

Part of a Wider Calendar

While Burns Night is a social highlight, it sits alongside a varied programme of activities throughout the year. Christchurch Round Table members regularly take part in:

  • Fundraising and volunteering for local causes in Christchurch and Dorset

  • Informal social events and dinners

  • Joint events with other clubs and organisations

The balance between social activity and community involvement is what keeps the group active and welcoming.
